Is Change Coming for You?

Volume 2; Issue 8, May 2026

Hola! Can you keep up with all the change? I can't. This past month, I dedicated hours to learning software, only to discover a better version existed and no longer relevant to my project. My health shifted just as I was feeling stronger. And the weather unexpectedly turned cold just as I was getting used to the warmer days. And even positive change, like getting new opportunities, felt impossible to maintain. This got me thinking. Why is change so hard? Change by definition is the difference of one point, thing, event to another, like childhood to adulthood, typewriter to computer or even feeling disappointed by friends or family you once believed in or supported. That difference causes discomfort, a signal that can hold us back from acceptance. What I've come to understand is that even though change has occurred, our internal feelings need time to adapt. Time requires reflection, patience and sometimes forgiveness. So when change comes for you, be kind to yourself. After all, the world moves pretty fast, but you don't have to.

Spanish Translation: Cambio translates to Change

When I was growing up, I heard the phrase "Ella ha dado un cambio", which translates to "She has gone through a change". The phrase felt mysterious, since it was usually expressed without specifics or details. Lately, I've come to understand it's full essence. In my past, I've experienced change with heaviness and sadness. This time, my change feels lighter, almost airy. I don't know if that feeling will last, but one thing's for sure: not all change makes you feel the same. Some of it arrives with pain or joy and some of it arrives with whispers, asking us to notice and confirm the new version of ourselves. Although change can carry positive and/ or negative implications, the Spanish phrase, "Ella ha dado un cambio" seems to not discern between good or bad. The only information we receive is that change has occurred. And sometimes, that's the only way we can progress in our lives. So I say, "Be brave my loves; embrace the change!"

Photo of Eye is watching you

Volume 2; Issue 7; April 2026 Hola! Do you ever feel like somebody's watching you? I do. This past month, I've been watched, mostly through online, virtual and in-person events. I admit it's mostly of my own making and a bit intimidating. But then there's the new reality of being watched, like my Alexa app waiting to be summoned, scam e-mails that know too much, something popping up on social media related to a recent conversation, or an AI suggesting proposed language at the beginning of my...

Make you own Luck

Volume 2; Issue 6; March 2026 Hola! Are you lucky? I am. This past month, I avoided traffic that would've made me late, received a package earlier than expected and was gifted a hotel upgrade. Yet, luck hasn't always been on my side. This got me thinking. Is luck an illusion? I'm not referring to a magical force, but rather a human concept. Did we create luck only to make ourselves feel better about our unique situations, shortcomings, personal choices or even our failures? The truth is that...

Heart Painting

Volume 2, Issue 5; February 2026 Hola Brujas! Do you believe in love? I do. And yet, lately, it feels as though people aren't treating one another with love, despite it being everywhere. You read that right. Love is everywhere, from heart emojis 🥰 to saying "love ya" or "thanks, love" as easily as our hellos and goodbyes. (Air kisses anyone?) Media floods us with reminders to send love to our friends on their birthdays, to buy loving gifts for our family on holidays, and to embrace messages...
